In-class self portrait

For class today we did a self portrait with detail added at the end. I tried to not overwork the background and keep the wash simple. I think I am somewhat developing a style with more messy planes of color. I am just trying to improve and I think Im getting there. It's not great but you have to start somewhere. Below is the picture of me and then the watercolor.

Watercolor with line art

Here are my three watercolor drawings with line detail added. I chose to do two landscapes and and a interesting looking chicken. It is hard trying to not over add detail with these. I think the chicken is somewhat successful but the landscapes are not that good. Hopefully I improve?

Final Line Art Drawings

Here are the two line art drawings that Rusty chose from Wednesday. My drawings consist of a contact case and a pair of glasses. The case was more of a messy/loose style with more etching and scribbles to create value whereas the glasses were using directional line. I tried to maintain a sharper more precise style with the glasses also.

Wash Illustration

Here is the combination of ink and watercolor. The images are off and I haven't used watercolor in a long time. Hopefully I improve...

More Line Drawings

Our homework was to draw 10 more line drawings of everyday objects. Rusty has chosen two of the ten for final drawings due on Monday. These will be tighter and hopefully, better. My two drawings are of my glasses and a contact case.

Line Art Final

Here is my final line art illustration, 8.5 x 11. It is highly stylized and has more of a contour line style rather than photo realism. The illustration took about two hours including the sketches I did before hand.

Line Art

Our first assignment was 10 line drawings based from a photo. Each drawing had to be a different style so we were forced to try multiple ways in drawing. The drawings were to be done in some kind of black ink. I chose to use micron pens with three different sizes.

The photograph I chose was a picture of my mom and I. The drawings took my about two hours.

Our next step is to reproduce a final 8.5 X 11 line drawing of one of our ten previous drawings. Rusty has chosen this particular sketch. This was my most different style I think. I tried to use contour lines and shapes to represent the values. This should be interesting.
